West Seattle Blog… | WEST SEATTLE LIGHT RAIL: City Council briefing on Tuesday
(A route option by WS Golf Course, from page 253 of DEIS section 4.2.1)
If you are still trying to update yourself on the Sound Transit Environmental Impact Assessment Project for West Seattle Light Rail (and beyond), here’s your next chance to watch a briefing/discussion: Tuesday morning is on the agenda for the 9:30 a.m. online city council meeting Transportation Committee. The DEIS is the document that details the various potential impacts of multiple route and station location options. Sound Transit is taking comments until April 28; then its board of directors will decide this summer which routing/station locations will go through the final phase of environmental studies. The city has several roles in the process – it’s working with ST on station planning, it could consider contributing “third-party funding” for options that would cost more, and it has two representatives on the board of directors of ST, the president of the city council Debora Juarez and mayor Bruce Harrel. You can register to comment on Tuesday’s meeting – the agenda explains how – and you can watch it live (or recorded for later playback) via Seattle Canal. If you would like to view the DEIS independently, you can do so via ST’s online open house here, which also offers commenting opportunities.
