Cars ‘petrol bombed’ into two homes on Airdrie Street as residents speak of a ‘war zone’
Three cars were bombarded with petrol on a Scottish residential street, with one resident describing the incident as “a war zone”.
Residents have told how they heard bangs and loud noises on Newbattle Avenue in Airdrie after thugs set fire to stuffed engines.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the scene around 11.30pm last night to put out the flames at two separate properties.
A Range Rover Evoque parked in the street was reportedly set on fire after a Molotov cocktail was thrown through the window.

The body of a Russian model who criticized Vladimir Putin has been discovered hidden in a suitcase more than a year after he disappeared.
Gretta Vedler was murdered a month after she posted on social media calling Putin a “psychopath” and predicting that his drive to “strengthen the integrity of Russia” would end in tears.
Her ‘jealous’ former partner Dmitry Korovin, 23, confessed more than a year later to strangling her to death after an argument over money in Moscow, unrelated to his political views and analysis of the mind and motives of Putin.
The killer told detectives he slept in a hotel room for three nights with his corpse which he put in a newly purchased suitcase.

A Scottish father suffocated to death while having dinner as his wife desperately tried to save his life.
Paul McMillan, 41, began to struggle when a piece of steak lodged in his throat while at his home in Falkirk.
His wife Jennifer frantically attempted the Heimlich maneuver on him while waiting for emergency services.
Paramedics arrived and continued to work on Paul for another 90 minutes while Jennifer’s 10-year-old daughter played upstairs.
Rangers hero Ally McCoist questioned by cops after looking out of house window in Cheltenham
Ally McCoist has been questioned by police for looking out of a house window after she got lost at the Cheltenham Festival.
The Rangers legend had been trying to find his accommodation before being confronted by an officer.
He had booked an Airbnb cottage in the Cotswold town of Chipping Campden to stay in while working for Talksport at the annual horse racing event.
But, after getting lost and unable to find his digs, he ended up knocking on another door before being questioned by the constable about what he was doing.
