The news agency Reuters reports about attempts "to dissuade migrants from Cameroon and Nigeria with a bleak new television advert that depicts the life of freshly-arrived migrants in Europe as one fraught with problems and dangers." The hard-hitting advert is part of a campaign by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), funded by the Swiss Federal Office of Migration and the European Commission.

Laborers, labor union activists, unionists, academicians and mass organizations in Turkey are organizing The First International Labor Film And Video Festival in Istanbul and Ankara , in Turkey between 29th of April 7 th of May 2006, during the May Day celebration.

This non-competitive festival is devoted to the screening of video and film on the lives and struggle of working class people all around the world, for the exchange and collectivizing of the experiences of the filmmakers, as documentary or fiction works of groups and individuals, committed to labor struggle; to spread the works that show the struggle of workers, unemployed, students, farmers and women as well as screening films that show the popular uprisings across the world. We believe this will help arouse interest in labor films and promote their production in Turkey and around the world.

10 minute video about the protest at the border on April 2nd, 2005. The protest was against HR 418, the Triple Fence and the MinuteMen project in Arizona. The film shows the Tijuana Estuary, which will be destroyed by the construction of the Triple Border Fence, Friendship Park and the existing fence.

In Spring 2002, eighteen women from Romania came to the town of Lampertheim, in South-West Germany as seasonal workers. They came for a harvest of asparagus famous in the region. After a month of harvest, the women realised their employer was not going to pay the contracted salary. They staged a fight to recover their money.

Low-wage workers in the garment industry, janitors without legal papers, temporary labor in the high-tech industry: the protagonists of a new wave of labor movement in California were long time considered as unorganizable. Now they lead a new generation of workers struggles which takes precariousness rather as a starting point than an obstacle for multiple ways of organizing -- no matter inside or outside of the unions.
